BLOCKSとして4施設目となる「BLOCKS IKEBUKURO」は、シリーズ初の新築です。
敷地はJR池袋駅西口から徒歩7分。繁華街と住宅地のちょうど境界に位置し、北側には低層建物が広がり、それ以外の方向には中高層の建物が密集しています。

間口が狭く、周囲に建物が立て込む敷地条件から、外観はブランドの存在を示しつつ、都市景観にも寄与するファサードを計画しました。ブロック状のプランターを積み上げ、そのフレームの中に植栽を配することで、四季折々に異なる表情を見せるユニークな外観を生み出しています。
同時に、道路側の居室からは北側の抜け感を取り込みつつ、植栽を間近に感じられるつくりになっています。

1階のラウンジは細長い形状を活かし、1人でも集中して働けるワークスポットから、会議にも対応できるフレキシブルな空間まで用意。シークエンスを感じられるよう、小さなエリアごとにテクスチャーや照明、家具を変え、多様なワークスタイルに応えています。

BLOCKSの特徴である植栽は、BLOCKS恵比寿と同様に上部へ持ち上げ、細長い空間の中でも「グリーンキャノピー」として緑を感じられるように配置しました。

さらに、Keeenueさんの池袋モンパルナスから着想を得たミューラルやキャンバスアートが、空間に楽しさと刺激を与えてくれます。

BLOCKSが大切にしてきた「緑」と「多様な働き方」が、池袋の街に新たな景色と時間をもたらします。

BLOCKS IKEBUKURO, the fourth BLOCKS facility, marks the series’ first newly built project.
The site is located a seven-minute walk from JR Ikebukuro Station’s west exit, right on the boundary between a bustling commercial district and a residential area. To the north lies a low-rise neighborhood, while medium- and high-rise buildings cluster in other directions.

Given the narrow frontage and the dense surroundings, the façade was designed to both express the brand’s identity and contribute to the cityscape. Block-shaped planters are stacked, with greenery placed within each frame, creating a distinctive exterior that changes its expression with the seasons. At the same time, the north-facing openness is captured, allowing residents on the street side to enjoy greenery up close.

On the first floor, the elongated lounge offers a variety of spaces—from individual work spots ideal for focused tasks to flexible areas that can accommodate meetings. To create a sense of sequence, textures, lighting, and furniture are varied across smaller zones, supporting diverse work styles.

A signature element of BLOCKS, the greenery is elevated—similar to BLOCKS Ebisu—forming a “Green Canopy” that brings a lush presence to the elongated space.

Additionally, murals and canvas artworks by Keeenue, inspired by Ikebukuro Montparnasse, add vibrancy and creative energy to the interior.

The values BLOCKS has cherished—“greenery” and “diverse ways of working”—bring new scenery and moments to the city of Ikebukuro.
